GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Thiel Tomcats women's lacrosse team defeated the Saint Vincent Bearcats, 18-4, in a non-conference matchup Tuesday evening.

The Tomcats kicked off the game (and their season) with four straight goals, setting the tone early on. The Bearcats answered with two straight goals to bring the game to 4-2 with just under 12:00 to play in the half. Thiel again went on a four-goal run to end the half leading 8-2.

In the second half, the Bearcats struck first with a goal to bring the Tomcats' lead to 8-3. The Tomcats pulled away with a six-goal run to lead 14-3 and held on to win 18-4.

The Tomcats were led by Mackenzie Quinn (Carnegie, Pa./Chartiers Valley), who notched eight goals in the contest. Freshman Ashlyn Wightman (Glenshaw, Pa./Shaler) scored four goals and added an assist and three ground balls in her Thiel debut. Destiny Johnson (Baltimore, Md./Western) also chipped in with three goals. The two Tomcats goalkeepers, Emily Ramous (Bridgeville, Pa./Chartiers Valley) and Madison Liggett (Baltimore, Md./Catholic), each played a half, tallied five saves, and allowed just two goals.

The Bearcats were led by a goal and an assist for Kaylee Bandow. Bridget Doyle, Margaret Edwards, and Hannah-Marie Starner also scored. Goalkeeper Kyra Lipetzky recorded 13 saves.

The Tomcats' next game will be on the road Sunday for a non-conference bout against the Westminster Titans. The game is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
