BEAVER FALLS, Pa. – The Thiel Tomcats' men's soccer team fell to the Geneva Golden Tornadoes, 8-1, Saturday evening in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) matchup.
There were no goals scored in the first 29 minutes, until the Golden Tornadoes scored on a penalty kick at the 29:42 mark. The Golden Tornadoes kept the momentum going, scoring two more goals to go up 3-0 into halftime. Out of the half, the Golden Tornadoes picked up where they left off, scoring four straight goals out of the half. The Tomcats ended their scoring drought with a goal at the 62:38 mark. The Golden Tornadoes added an insurance goal and won 8-1.
Cade Wolfe (St. Clairsville, Ohio/St. Clairsville) scored the lone goal for Thiel with his first career goal as a Tomcat.
Andreas Hauge Jonassen (Stavanger, Nor/) recorded the assist on Wolfe's goal. Goalkeeper
Noah Brieck (Kensington, Ohio/United Local) recorded 13 saves in the contest.
The Golden Tornadoes were led by multi-goal efforts from Zach O'Connor and Kevin Pasho (two each). Justin Finnegan added two assists. Starting goalkeeper Gabe Kemp allowed zero goals in 60 minutes and backup Nate Burkhart allowed one goal in 30 minutes.
The Tomcats will look to bounce back when they travel to Grove City to take on the Wolverines next Saturday at 1 p.m.
