BEAVER FALLS, Pa. – The Thiel College football team was defeated, 49-0, by the Geneva Golden Tornadoes in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) game on Saturday afternoon.
The Golden Tornadoes took a 35-0 lead into halftime. In the second half, the Tomcats were able to force two fumbles on defense, but the Golden Tornadoes added two touchdowns to win, 49-0.
On offense,
Owen Trumbull (Bear Lake, Pa./Eisenhower) and
Alexander Kovalyak (DuBois, Pa./DuBois) combined for 12-of-23 passing for 100 yards, with Trumbull accounting for nine completions for 86 yards. The longest Tomcat play of the day was a pass from Trumbull to
Austin Huebner (Sewickley, Pa./North Allegheny), a 29-yard grab on a 3
rd-and-9 play. Huebner added another catch to total 39 receiving yards on the day. On the ground,
Kaleb Donor (Meadville, Pa./Maplewood) rushed for 21 yards on six carries. He also added two catches for 17 yards.
DeAnthony Pendleton (Spotsylvania, Va./Spotsylvania) rushed for 14 yards.
For the Golden Tornadoes, Amos Luptak completed all four of his passes for two touchdowns and 107 yards, while also adding 80 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns on 16 carries. Peet Blake caught two passes for 73 yards and a touchdown. Brutus Ogilvie rushed for 81 yards on 12 carries.
Defensively for the Tomcats,
Joe Stoutamire (Clairton, Pa./Clairton) tied for the team-lead with seven tackles and added half of a tackle for a loss of yards and half of a sack. Stoutamire leads the team with 60 tackles and 9.5 tackles for a loss of yards on the season.
Randall Miller (Mineral Ridge, Ohio/Mineral Ridge) made seven tackles with two forced fumbles.
Donny Pattison (Bradford, Pa./Bradford Area) also forced a fumble.
Justin Logan (North Chesterfield, Va./James River) recovered two fumbles and
Darnell Jordan (Pittsburgh, Pa./Westinghouse) recovered one. Logan and Jordan notched two and five tackles, respectively.
Jaellen Rose (Midlothian, Va./James River) blocked a field goal, the Tomcats' fifth blocked kick of the season.
For the Golden Tornadoes, Kaden Romero led with eight tackles and added 2 tackles for a loss of yards, a sack, a fumble recovery, and an interception. Haddon Schlarbaum led the game with 3.5 tackles for a loss of yards and 2.5 sacks.
The Tomcats will conclude their season at home next Saturday as they take on the Grove City Wolverines at noon.
