NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – The Thiel College men's basketball team lost a non-conference game Saturday to the Capital Crusaders 74-63 during play in the Buzz Ridl Classic.
 
Up by a point at halftime (30-29), the Tomcats were outscored 45-33 in the second half.
 
Marlon Ellerbee (Temple Hills, Md./Oxon Hill) led Thiel with 15 points and five rebounds. Ahmad Tejumola (Waldorf, Md./Saint Charles) recorded a double-double with a game-best 16 rebounds and 10 points while Daquan Simmons (Capitol Heights, Md./Central) scored 10 points. Beni Lavodrama (Washington, D.C./Phelps ACE) chipped in with nine points.
 
David Sanford led Capital with 17 points. Tyler Schreck scored 14 points to go along with 10 rebounds and five blocks.
 
The Tomcats will face the Case Western Reserve Spartans on the road Tuesday. The game will begin at 7 p.m.
