CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Thiel College men's basketball team was defeated, 90-68, on the road by the Case Western Reserve Spartans in non-conference game Tuesday evening.
The Spartans went on a 12-0 run to start the game and never looked back, leading 51-24 at halftime. The Tomcats outscored the Spartans 44-39 in the second half, but it was not enough.
Marlon Ellerbee (Temple Hills, Md./Oxon Hill) led the Tomcats with 13 points on 5-of-11 shooting.
Ahmad Tejumola (Waldorf, Md./Saint Charles) tallied 11 points, eight rebounds, two blocks, and two steals.
Beni Lavodrama (Washington, D.C./Phelps ACE) also notched 11 points, seven rebounds, and a game-high three steals.
Omahn Dobbins (Cleveland, Ohio/Warrensville Heights) scored nine points on 3-of-5 shooting and added two steals.
For the Spartans, Mitch Predergast scored 18 points on 7-of-10 shooting, hitting all four of his three-point attempts. Griffin Kornaker and Cole Frilling each scored 13 points. Kornaker added nine assists and Frilling added eight rebounds.
The Tomcats will look to bounce back as they begin Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) play on the road against the Chatham Cougars Saturday at 1 p.m.
