Tomcats sweep Wolverines, Presidents

GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Thiel College women's volleyball team swept the Grove City Wolverines and the Washington & Jefferson Presidents in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) tri-match at Beeghly Gymnasium on Saturday.
 
Thiel defeated Grove City 28-26, 25-19, 25-18.
 
Maria Torres (Boardman, Ohio/Boardman) led the Tomcats against the Wolverines with a match-best 15 kills to go along with 10 digs. Kylee Eaton (Parker, Pa./AC Valley) notched 14 kills and nine digs. Danielle Aulet (Austintown, Ohio/Mineral Ridge) led all players with 44 assists while also contributing nine digs.
 
Also for Thiel, Raquel McDonald (Syracuse, N.Y./Bishop Grimes) and Erica Gregory (Clinton Township, Mich./Fraser) recorded eight kills apiece. Abby Triskett (Orwell, Ohio/Grand Valley) tallied a match-best 25 digs while Emily Sears (Jefferson, Ohio/Geneva) registered 11 digs.
 
Eloise Augustine paced Grove City with 10 kills while Mya Lathem recorded 16 digs. Katie Kenlein tallied 18 assists and 13 digs.
 
Thiel beat W&J 25-16, 25-18, 25-16.
 
Torres notched 15 kills and eight digs against the Presidents. Eaton had 11 kills and eight digs while McDonald registered seven kills. Aulet tallied 37 assists and seven digs. Triskett contributed 17 digs.
 
Lizzie Carmichael paced the Presidents with seven kills. Alexis Tomassini notched 17 assists and nine digs. Sophia Sacriponte and Mattie Cherry contributed 10 digs apiece.
 
The Tomcats, who have won five of their last six contests, will face the Bethany Bison on the road Tuesday. The PAC match will start at 7 p.m.
