PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The Thiel Tomcats lost a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) game to the Carnegie Mellon Tartans on Saturday, 53-0.
 
Ben Mills completed 3-of-6 passes for Carnegie Mellon for 111 yards. He threw two touchdown passes on the day.
 
Zachary Hamilton led the Tartans on the ground with 105 yards on 19 carries. Tre Vasiliadis ran for 20 yards and two scores on four attempts. Kris Hughes was CMU's top receiver with two catches, both of which were for touchdowns, for 104 yards.
 
Thiel quarterbacks Alexander Kovalyak (DuBois, Pa./DuBois) and Owen Trumbull (Bear Lake, Pa./Eisenhower) combined for 10 completions for 61 yards. Kaleb Donor (Meadville, Pa./Maplewood) ran for 39 yards on five carries. Deon Logan (Richmond, Va./James River) caught four passes for 20 yards. Logan also ran for 14 yards. Marlon Brown (White Plains, Md./St. Charles) caught two passes for 28 yards.
 
Evan Roper recorded five tackles and recovered two fumbles for the Tartans.
 
X'Zonder Goodwin (Erie, Pa./Erie Cathedral Prep) led the Tomcats with 11 tackles, four of which were behind the line of scrimmage. Luke Faber (Greenville, Pa./Reynolds) recorded seven tackles, two of which were for a loss of yards. Jordan Volpe (Sharon, Pa./Sharon), who made four tackles, blocked a 27-yard field goal attempt in the third quarter.
 
The Tomcats will host the Case Western Reserve Spartans at Alumni Stadium on Saturday. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
