WAYNESBURG, Pa. – The Thiel College men's soccer team was defeated, 2-1 (2 OT), by the Waynesburg Yellow Jackets in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) game on Saturday.
The Yellow Jackets scored first, at the 18:15 mark to take an early 1-0 lead. The Yellow Jackets maintained the lead for the rest of the first half and most of the second half, until
Dakota King (Parker, Pa./Karns City) tied the game up with just over five minutes left in regulation and send the match into overtime. Neither team scored in the first overtime, but the Yellow Jackets would win in the second overtime, at the 104:23 mark.
For the Tomcats, King scored his first collegiate goal. King,
Chase Yopp (New Brighton, Pa./New Brighton), and
Evan Kosenina (Clinton, Pa./West Allegheny) recorded multiple shot attempts. Goalkeeper
Noah Brieck (Kensington, Ohio/United Local) tallied 11 saves and allowed just two goals. Brieck has notched double-digit saves in both of his starts this season.
For the Yellow Jackets, Samuel Hawkins scored both goals. Daniel Hott assisted Hawkins on the first goal. Michael Francus saved two shots and allowed one goal on the evening.
The Tomcats will conclude their season at home with senior night against the Chatham Cougars on Wednesday. Kickoff is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
