GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Thiel College men's soccer team was defeated, 1-0, by the Chatham Cougars in a Presidents' Athletic Conference game on Wednesday.
Before the game, the seniors on the team were recognized for their time with the team. The three seniors recognized were
Tyler Hartz (Orwell, Ohio/Grand Valley),
Muataz Alqass Ishaq (Pittsburgh, Pa./Keystone Oaks), and
Devin Weisbarth (Akron, Ohio/Norton).
Chatham scored the only goal of the game at the 21:49 mark in the first half. Both teams were held scoreless the remainder of the game.
For the Tomcats, Alqass Ishaq recorded a shot on goal.
Yuta Koike (Ichikawa, Jpn./) and
Chase Yopp (New Brighton, Pa./New Brighton) notched two shots apiece. In goal, Weisbarth tallied 12 saves and allowed just one goal, his fifth game with double-digit saves. Weisbarth is now third in Thiel history in games played at goalie (30). He also recorded his 300th career save today and ended the season third in Thiel history in career saves (304).
For the Cougars, Marco Piccolo scored the only goal and was assisted by Ryan Tahbaz. In net, Trevor Rose did not allow a goal in the match.
The Tomcats concluded the season 1-14-3 (1-8-0 PAC).
