GREENVILLE, Pa. – Senior midfielder
Mackenzie Quinn (Carnegie, Pa./Chartiers Valley) scored nine goals Monday to lead the Thiel College women's lacrosse team to a 16-10 non-conference win over the Hiram Terriers at the Rissell-Schreyer Dome.
The Tomcats led 11-6 at halftime. Hiram scored three consecutive goals early in the second half to cut the lead down to 11-9, but Thiel scored five of the last six goals down the stretch to earn the win.
Quinn led the Tomcats with a game-best nine goals. She also added an assist for a 10-point game.
Maddy Wightman (Glenshaw, Pa./Shaler) scored four goals and added an assist while
Alex Geraci (Garrettsville, Ohio/Crestwood) scored three goals.
Whitman and Quinn combined for 18 draw controls while Geraci and
Mercyne Demma (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mount Lebanon) combined for eight caused turnovers. Geraci and Quinn notched five and four ground balls, respectively.
Lily Polen paced the Terriers with three goals.
Emily Ramous (Bridgeville, Pa./Chartiers Valley), who earned the win, made 15 saves. Ketzia Umana also made 15 saves for Hiram.
The Tomcats will face the Marietta Pioneers on the road Wednesday. The non-conference game is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
