GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Thiel College women's lacrosse team suffered a 19-8 non-conference loss to the Juniata Eagles on Saturday at Thiel's Rissell-Schreyer Dome.
Mackenzie Quinn (Carnegie, Pa./Chartiers Valley) and Dionna D'Orsi (Las Vegas, Nev./Bishop Gorman) scored the first two goals of the game to give the Tomcats a 2-0 advantage with 22:30 left in the first half.
Over the next eight minutes, Juniata scored seven of the game's eight goals for a 7-3 lead with just over 14 minutes remaining in the half.
Quinn and Maddy Wightman (Glenshaw, Pa./Shaler) scored back-to-back goals, trimming Juniata's lead to 7-5 with just under nine minutes to play in the first frame.
The Eagles scored three more goals before heading into the halftime break and outscored the Tomcats 9-3 in the second half.
Quinn paced Thiel's offensive efforts with a game-high five goals and three assists for a total of eight points on the afternoon.
Talia Bertrando led Juniata with four goals and four assists.
The Tomcats will host the Hiram Terriers Monday at the Rissell-Schreyer Dome. The non-conference game will begin at 6 p.m.
