HUNTINGDON, Pa. – The Thiel College men's volleyball team lost a non-conference match 3-0 on the road Friday to the ninth-ranked Juniata Eagles.
Mitch Patterson (Canonsburg, Pa./Canon-McMillan) recorded a match-best 15 kills for the Tomcats.
Chance Hoffman (Cochranton, Pa./Cochranton) registered 22 assists while
Zac Smith (Pittsburgh, Pa./Keystone Oaks) and
D'ondre Merren (Brooklyn, Md./North County) tallied four digs apiece.
The Tomcats lost by scores of 25-13, 25-14, 25-23. Juniata entered the match ranked ninth in the country in Division III, according to the most recent American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) poll.
David Hibner and Drew Hunter tallied five kills apiece for Juniata. Matt Schaeffer and Austin Goodsel combined for 19 assists while Max Cooley notched eight digs.
The Tomcats will return to action Wednesday when they face the Medaille Mavericks on the road. The Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) match is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
