GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Thiel College men's basketball team earned a 65-40 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) win over the Bethany Bison Saturday at Beeghly Gymnasium.
The Tomcats held a slim 25-22 lead at halftime but needed less than five minutes in the second half to take their first double-digit lead (36-26). Thiel took a 21-point lead (48-27) with 10:50 remaining on a layup by
Devin Christian (Mechanicsville, Va./Lee-Davis). The Tomcats went on to lead by as many as 26 points down the stretch.
Ahmad Tejumola (Waldorf, Md./Saint Charles) and
Chima Omeihe (Lake Worth, Fla./Park Vista Community) recorded double-doubles for the Tomcats. Tejumola led the Tomcats with 12 points and pulled down a game-best 16 rebounds.
Omeihe scored 10 points and corralled 12 rebounds.
Michael Ricks (Cleveland, Ohio/Cleveland School of Architecture and Design) chipped in with 10 points and six rebounds.
Thiel edged Bethany in rebounds (55-38), shooting percentage (40.3%-21.4%), points in the paint (40-16), fast break points (26-6) and bench points (31-15).
Khalil Wilson paced the Bison with 14 points and eight rebounds.
Thiel improved to 2-1 in the PAC with the win. The Tomcats will take on the Washington & Jefferson Presidents on the road Wednesday. The PAC game is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m.
