CLEVELAND – The Thiel College women's volleyball team competed at the Case Western Reserve University Invitational Friday and Saturday.
On Friday, Thiel lost in straight sets to SUNY Geneseo 25-15, 25-18, 25-21.
Natalie Zucco (Cleveland, Ohio/North Royalton) paced Thiel with 10 kills and 10 digs.
Courtney Grubbs (Freeport, Pa./Freeport) handed out 23 assists and also chipped in with nine digs.
On Saturday, Thiel fell 3-0 to Muskingum and John Carroll.
Muskingum defeated Thiel 25-12, 25-11, 25-18. Grubbs recorded 16 assists and seven digs while
Alexis Orton (North East, Pa./North East) came up with 12 digs.
Brie Bialota (Pittsburgh, Pa./Plum) notched six kills.
John Carroll defeated Thiel 25-23, 25-12, 25-20. Grubbs tallied 21 assists and 10 digs while Zucco notched 11 digs and nine kills.
The Tomcats will play their home opener Wednesday when they host the Hiram Terriers at Beeghly Gymnasium. The non-conference match is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
