NEW CONCORD, Ohio – The Thiel College men's soccer team suffered a 2-1 non-conference loss to the Muskingum Fighting Muskies on Saturday.
Both teams would trade shot attempts for a majority of the first half. In the 40
th minute, Jordan Work broke the scoreless tie, putting the Fighting Muskies on the board and giving Muskingum the 1-0 lead heading into the halftime break.
In the 58
th minute,
Anthony Phillips (Hanoverton, Ohio/United Local ) found
Bradley Novak (Wellington, Ohio/Keystone) who scored to tie the game 1-1.
The tie would be broken just three minutes later, as Work would score again to give Muskingum the 2-1 lead.
Novak and
Christopher Felger (New Castle, Pa./Mohawk) led Thiel three shots each.
Kohei Hayashi (Hyogo, Jpn. ) took two shots, one of which was on frame.
Bailey Adams handed out both assists on Work's goals. Damon Spaeth made two saves in net for the Fighting Muskies.
Devin Weisbarth (Akron, Ohio/Norton) collected six saves in net.
The Tomcats continue their away stand on Wednesday, Sept. 11 when they play the Medaille Mavericks. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m.
