MEADVILLE, Pa. – The Thiel College women's volleyball team lost a pair of non-conference matches Saturday to Fredonia and Allegheny at the David V. Wise Center on the campus of Allegheny College.
Thiel lost to Fredonia, 3-1. The Tomcats won the first set 25-18, but the Blue Devils won the next three sets 26-24, 25-17, 25-14.
Taylor Williams (Tuscarawas, Ohio/Indian Valley) tallied 18 digs against the Blue Devils while
Courtney Grubbs (Freeport, Pa./Freeport) recorded 13 assists and 10 digs.
Natalie Zucco (Cleveland, Ohio/North Royalton) notched six digs and five kills.
Allegheny defeated Thiel 25-11 in the first set, but the Tomcats won 25-17 in the second game. The Gators went on to win 25-17 in the third set and 25-19 in the fourth set.
Zucco led Thiel with 13 kills against Allegheny. Williams and
Alexis Orton (North East, Pa./North East) combined for 30 digs. Grubbs handed out 26 assists while also contributing 10 digs.
Orton went on to be named to the all-tournament team.
The Tomcats begin Presidents' Athletic Conference play Wednesday when they host the Geneva Golden Tornadoes at Beeghly Gymnasium. The match is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
