GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Thiel College baseball team picked up a pair of Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) wins on Tuesday as they defeated Chatham University 4-1 and 11-4.
The Tomcats used a four run inning in the sixth to take their first lead of game one. The Cougars got on the board in the first as it proved to Chatham's only run of the game.
Thiel sealed the win in the seventh as
Sante Carducci (Toronto, Ohio/Toronto) collected his second save of the year to preserve the win. Thiel grabbed game one 4-1 as
Richard Crooks (Milan, Ohio/Edison) picked up the win as the freshman went six innings and allowed just one run, while striking out five on the day.
Thiel's offense wasted little time in game two as the Tomcats scored four in the first to start the game.
Chatham added a run in the third to make it 4-1 before Thiel answered with a two-run fourth inning to put the lead back up to five.
A five-run sixth sealed the victory for the Tomcats as Thiel would take game two 11-4.

JT Bowen (Erie, Pa./Cathedral Prep) collected his first win of the season as the lefty went six innings and allowed just two runs, while striking out four.
Nash Matson (Kittanning, Pa./Armstrong) led the Tomcats on offense with a team-high four hits on the day.
Alex Lam (Springboro, Ohio/Springboro) and
Joe Mott (Kinsman, Ohio/Badger) each collected three hits apiece in the nine inning contest.
With the wins, Thiel improves to 10-16 overall and 6-8 in the PAC.
The Tomcats return to action on Friday as they host Geneva College in a PAC single nine inning contest at Tomcat Park, first pitch is set for 4 p.m.
