GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Thiel College baseball team collected a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) win on Friday over Geneva College 21-9 at Tomcat Park.
The Tomcats wasted little time scoring as
Joe Mott (Kinsman, Ohio/Badger) drove in the first run of the game on a sacrifice-fly before
Christian Aldrich (Cranberry Township, Pa./Central Catholic) homered to right field to make it 4-0 after one. A sac-fly from
Nash Matson (Kittanning, Pa./Armstrong) in the second made it 5-0 in favor of the Tomcats.
Geneva broke
Sante Carducci's (Toronto, Ohio/Toronto) shutout in the third before the Tomcats answered with four runs in the bottom of the inning. Another three runs in the fifth gave Thiel a 12-1 advantage.
The Tomcat offense continued to click in the sixth as
Nick Fowkes (New Eagle, Pa./Ringgold) collected a two-rbi single and
Daniel Patrice (Munich, Germany/EST) homered to left field to score three, while Aldrich added two more runs on a double to right center.
Thiel took the PAC contest 21-9 as Carducci collected the win.
Aldrich went 4-for-4 on the day with a game-high five RBIs. Fowkes and Patrice eached racked up RBIs apiece.
With the win, Thiel improves to 11-16 and 7-8 in PAC play.
Thiel returns to action tomorrow as they finish their three game set with Geneva in Beaver Falls, Pa. The PAC doubleheader is set to begin at 1 p.m.
