Johnson paces Tomcats with five goals against Highlanders

Ramous makes career-high 17 saves

HOUGHTON, N.Y. – The Thiel College women's lacrosse team lost a 13-12 non-conference game on the road Tuesday to the Houghton Highlanders at Burke Field.
 
Thiel led 7-6 at halftime, but Houghton won the second half 7-5 to capture the win.
 
Destiny Johnson (Baltimore, Md./Western ) scored three times late in the second half, each time to cut Houghton's lead down to a single goal. Johnson scored the last goal of the contest with 1:28 remaining in regulation, but the Tomcats were unable to score the equalizer down the stretch.
 
Johnson paced the Tomcats with five goals while adding five ground balls and two caused turnovers. Paige Scherer (Cranberry, Pa./Seneca Valley) tallied four points (2G, 2A) while also contributing eight ground balls and a pair of draw controls. Mackenzie Quinn (Carnegie, Pa./Chartiers Valley) scored two goals to go along with seven draw controls and three ground balls.
 
Marissa Hews scored a game-high seven goals for the Highlanders. Meagan Barry also finished with seven points (5G, 2A).
 
Emily Ramous (Bridgeville, Pa./Chartiers Valley) made a career-high 17 saves for the Tomcats. Sarah Olandt made five saves for the Highlanders.
 
Thiel (6-4, 1-0 PAC) will host the Westminster Titans (6-2, 1-0 PAC) Friday at Alumni Stadium. The PAC game will begin at 5 p.m.
