STEUBENVILLE, Ohio – The Thiel College men's lacrosse team won a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) game over the Franciscan Barons on the road Wednesday, 20-5.
Thiel opened up a 9-0 lead and cruised to the conference win.
Andrew Monks (Butler, Pa./Butler) (5G, 2A) and JJ Raab (Butler, Pa./Butler) (4G, 3A) led the Tomcats with seven points apiece. Jeffrey Karnoff (Ringoes, NJ/Hunterdon Central) notched six points (5G, 1A) while Desmond Stuart (Roanoke, Va./Salem) recorded four points (2G, 2A).
Jack Fontana (Olmsted Falls, Ohio/Olmsted) won 23-of-28 faceoffs and led the Tomcats with 18 ground balls.
Jonathan Lee paced the Barons with four goals.
Cole O'Connor (Midlothian, Va./James River) and Michael Purnell (Tipp City, Ohio/Bethel) combined to make 13 saves for Thiel. Grant McKeown made 19 saves for Franciscan.
The Tomcats (6-5, 1-2 PAC) will host the Bethany Bison (4-6, 1-2 PAC) Saturday at Alumni Stadium. The PAC game is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
