GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Thiel College women's lacrosse team earned a 17-13 non-conference win over the Hiram Terriers Wednesday at the Rissell-Schreyer Dome.
Thiel led 10-8 at halftime, but Hiram tied up the game 11-11 with 22:17 remaining in the second half. However, Thiel outscored Hiram 6-2 down the stretch to pick up the non-league win.
Mackenzie Quinn (Carnegie, Pa./Chartiers Valley) led Thiel with seven goals.
Paige Scherer (Cranberry, Pa./Seneca Valley) recorded seven points (4G, 3A) while recording game-bests in draw controls (9), ground balls (7) and caused turnovers (4).
Lexi Callander (Knox, Pa./Keystone) also scored three goals for the Tomcats while
Erica Auberzinski (Odenton, Md./Arundel) netted two goals.
Alexis Hirsch paced Hiram with five goals while Christina Belleza tallied four points (3G, 1A).
Emily Ramous (Bridgeville, Pa./Chartiers Valley) made six saves for the Tomcats in the win. Gillian McMaster made 18 saves for the Terriers.
The Tomcats, who improved to 3-2 on the season with Wednesday's win, will host the Hilbert Hawks on Saturday, March 16. The non-conference game is scheduled to begin at noon.
