GREENVILLE, Pa. - The Thiel College women's lacrosse team won a nonconference home match against Hilbert College on Saturday as the Tomcats took the match 22-2.
Thiel jumped out to a 6-0 advantage before Hilbert got on the board with 21:17 left in the first half to make it 6-1.
The Tomcats answered with five straight goals to give themselves a double-digit lead (11-1) heading into halftime.
Paige Scherer (Cranberry, Pa./Seneca Valley) led Thiel with a game-high seven goals, while
Mackenzie Quinn (Carnegie, Pa./Chartiers Valley) (4),
Destiny Johnson (Baltimore, Md./Western ) (4),
Tyla Belton (Altoona, Pa./Altoona) (2),
Maddy Wightman (Glenshaw, Pa./Shaler) (2), and
Erica Auberzinski (Odenton, Md./Arundel) (2) all had multi-goal games in the 22-2 victory.
Scherer ended the day with nine total points and nine shots on goal.

Emily Ramous (Bridgeville, Pa./Chartiers Valley) allowed just two goals in 60 minutes of play and collected five saves.
With the win, Thiel is now 4-2 and is off to their best start since 2015 season when the Tomcats were also 4-2 through six games.
The Tomcats are back in action on Wednesday as they face Muskingum University at 7 p.m. at Thiel's Rissell-Schreyer Dome.
