GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Thiel College baseball team fell 16-5 and 8-2 to Washington and Jefferson College in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) doubleheader on Sunday at Tomcat Park.
In game one, Thiel and W&J were knotted up at 3-3 before the Presidents racked up 12 straight runs to take a 15-3 lead. W&J would take game one 16-5.
Alex Lam (Springboro, Ohio/Springboro) and
Nick Fowkes (New Eagle, Pa./Ringgold) each collected two hits in game one, while
Daniel Patrice (Munich, Germany/EST) earned three hits including his first homerun of the year.
Game two saw the Presidents jump out to a 5-0 lead before Thiel scored two runs as
Adam Simon (McClellandtown, Pa./Albert Galatin) and
Christian Aldrich (Cranberry Township, Pa./Central Catholic) both picked up RBIs to make it 5-2 after five.
A three-run homer from W&J's Justin Griffin in the seventh sealed the game as the Presidents took game two, 8-2 to sweep the season series.
Jamin Wentling (Greenville, Pa./Greenville) collected two extra base hits in the 8-2 conference loss.
With the sweep Thiel falls to 4-11 on the season and 0-3 in PAC play.
The Tomcats are back in action on Tuesday as they travel to Grove City College from a PAC doubleheader, first pitch for the twin bill is set for 1 p.m.
