Tomcats win third straight

GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Thiel College women's lacrosse team collected its third straight win Wednesday night in a 17-4 non-conference victory over the Muskingum Fighting Muskies at the Rissell-Schreyer Dome.

Thiel wasted little time getting on the scoreboard when Paige Scherer (Cranberry, Pa./Seneca Valley) scored a goal just under four minutes into the game to give Thiel a 1-0 advantage. Mackenzie Quinn (Carnegie, Pa./Chartiers Valley) followed up with another goal just two minutes later making it 2-0 in favor of the Tomcats.

Muskingum responded with a goal just thirty seconds later to cut Thiel's lead to 2-1 before the Tomcats went on an 11-goal run to close out the first half and take a decisive 13-1 lead at the break.

In the second half, Thiel went on to cruise to a 17-4 victory as Scherer and Quinn both racked up four goals, while Erica Auberzinski (Odenton, Md./Arundel) scored three and Lexi Callander (Knox, Pa./Keystone), Maddy Wightman (Glenshaw, Pa./Shaler), and Destiny Johnson (Baltimore, Md./Western ) each had two goals on the night.

In net, Emily Ramous (Bridgeville, Pa./Chartiers Valley) collected eight saves and allowed just four goals in Thiel's 17-4 victory.

Thiel's three-game win streak is the program's first since the 2015 season.

Thiel improved to 5-2 on the season with the win. The Tomcats will face the D'Youville Spartans on the road on Tuesday. The non-conference game is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
