UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio – The Thiel College softball team lost a pair of non-conference games on the road Wednesday to the John Carroll Blue Streaks. Thiel lost the first game 1-0 before falling 10-1 in the second game.
John Carroll eked out the only run of the first game in the fourth inning on Emma Gurley's double to right field.
Leah Woytek (Hillsville, Pa./Mohawk),
Vanessa Falce (McKeesport, Pa./McKeesport) and
Allyssa Kidwell (Fort Mohave, Ariz./Mohave Accelerated) each recorded one hit for the Tomcats in the first game.
Jessica Kelley (Freeport, Pa./Freeport) took the loss. She allowed one run, which was unearned, on three hits. Kelley struck out three batters and allowed a pair of walks.
Miranda Reesman (Vandergrift, Pa./Leechburg) staked the Tomcats to 1-0 in the second game when she led off the second inning with a solo homer to left center field. However, the Blue Streaks scored six runs in the bottom of the second and went on to win 10-1 in five innings.
Reesman went 2-for-2 in the second game with a solo home run. Falce doubled while Kelley and
Madison Fullmer (Elyria, Ohio/Elyria) each recorded one single
The Tomcats will take on the Penn State Behrend Lions on the road Saturday. The first game of the non-conference doubleheader is set to begin at 1 p.m.
