GREENVILLE, Pa. - The Thiel College baseball team lost two nonconference games (2-1, 8-3) to Mount Aloysius College on Sunday.
The Tomcats and Mounties were scoreless through three innings before Mount Aloysius scored two runs in the fourth to take a 2-0 lead. Two runs would be all the Mounties would need as the Tomcats only scored one run in the seven inning game.
Thiel's lone run came in the the fifth as
Alex Lam (Springboro, Ohio/Springboro) was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to drive in a run. Mount Aloysius took game one of the two game set, 2-1.
In game two, the Mounties opened the game with back to back two run innings in the first and second to take a 4-0 lead after two.
Thiel answered scoring three total runs in the third and fourth, two runs were driven in by
Nick Fowkes (New Eagle, Pa./Ringgold), who collected three hits on the day. The Tomcat offense would not push another run across before the Mounties went off for four runs in the fifth to take a decisive 8-3 lead. Mount Aloysius went on to take the game 8-3 to sweep the Tomcats in the doubleheader.
The Tomcats are back in action on Tuesday as they face the University of Mount Union at Tomcat Park, first pitch is set for 2 p.m.
