GREENVILLE, Pa. - The Thiel College men's volleyball team swept a pair of nonconference home matches on Friday night as they swept both the University of Mount Union and Neumann University, 3-0.
Thiel opened the night with a 3-0 (25-19, 25-21, 25-21) victory over Mount Union. 
Mitch Patterson (Canonsburg, Pa./Canon-McMillan) collected a game-high 14 kills, while 
Jacob DeRue (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) added 11 kills. 
Stephen Borgen (Pittsburgh, Pa./Shaler Area) dished out 38 assists and 
Ryan Sumarsono (Victor, N.Y./Victor) racked up 16 digs. 
The Tomcats recorded another sweep in their second match as they defeated Neumann University 3-0 (25-16, 25-18, 25-12). 
Chance Hoffman (Cochranton, Pa./Cochranton) and Patterson both collected 12 kills, while 
Dakota Forrest (Aliquippa, Pa./Hopewell) added a game-high five blocks. Sumarsono collected game-highs in both assists (27) and digs (13).
With the pair of sweeps, Thiel improves to 11-9 overall. The Tomcats return to action on March 26 as they face Medaille College for an Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) matchup, first serve is set for 7 p.m. in Buffalo, N.Y.
