ALLIANCE, Ohio – The Thiel College men's volleyball team collected their first victory of the year in a nonconference road match against the University of Mount Union, 3-1.
The Tomcats stormed out to a 2-0 set lead before the Purple Raiders bounced back to win the third to force a fourth set.
A back and forth fourth set eventually went to Thiel, 26-24.
Leaders for the Tomcats included
Chance Hoffman (Cochranton, Pa./Cochranton) with 15 kills,
Stephen Borgen (Pittsburgh, Pa./Shaler Area) with a match-high 47 assists, and
Ryan Sumarsono (Victor, N.Y./Victor) with 13 digs.
Thiel is back in action tomorrow as they face three nonconference foes beginning at 9 a.m. against Fontbonne Unversity. Thiel will also face Trine University and Thomas More University to conclude the Purple Raider Rumble on Saturday.
