GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Thiel College men's basketball team earned a 78-63 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) victory over the Grove City Wolverines Saturday at Beeghly Gymnasium.
Thiel never trailed after the 15:41 mark of the first half after
Alonzo Brown (Largo, Fla./Pinellas Park) made a pair of shots from the free throw line. Thiel led 43-30 at halftime and went on to lead by as many as 21 points early in the second half.
Thiel edged Grove City in points off turnovers (18-7), points in the paint (36-22), bench points (20-14) and second chance points (14-13).
Brown scored 20 points and pulled down 10 rebounds to record his third double-double of the season.
Daquan Simmons (Capitol Heights, Md./Central) scored 20 points while
Nyric Gosley (Williamsport, Pa./Williamsport) also finished with a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Gosley also tallied six assists and three steals.
Terrance Holloway (Farrell, Pa./Farrell) chipped in with 10 points.
Brown and
Farook Aguirre (Orlando, Fla./Freedom) were honored prior to Saturday's game during Senior Day.
James Wells led Grove City 18 points and nine rebounds. Justice Rice scored 14 points while Isaac Williams scored 11 points.
Thiel will face Waynesburg on the road Wednesday. The PAC game is slated for a 7:30 p.m. start.
