GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Thiel College men's basketball team dropped a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) matchup to Bethany College 60-53 on Monday night at Beeghly Gymnasium.
The Tomcats raced out to a 19-5 lead to start the game before the Bison slowly started to crawl their way back into the game. Bethany closed the gap to just 12 going into halftime.
A slow start to the second half for Thiel put Bethany within striking distance and eventually the Bison tied the game 39-39 with 12:12 left in the second.
A pair of technical fouls on Thiel with just under four minutes gave Bethany a late lead they would not relinquish, as the Bison held on for a 60-53 conference victory over the Tomcats.
No Tomcat scored in double-figures but
Michael Ricks (Cleveland, Ohio/Cleveland School of Architecture and Design) scored a team-high nine points well
Andre Williams (Fort Lauderdale, Fla./Boyd H. Anderson) scored eight and grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds.
With the loss, Thiel falls to 4-8 in the PAC with four games remaining.
The Tomcats are back in action on Wednesday as they host PAC opponent Chatham University on Wednesday at Beeghly Gymnasium, tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m. The Tomcats defeated the Cougars in their first matchup of the year, 69-61 in Pittsburgh, Pa.
