BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Thiel College men's volleyball team won its fourth consecutive match and second straight Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) contest with a 3-1 win over the D'Youville Spartans on the road Tuesday night.
Thiel won the first two sets 25-17 and 25-18, respectively. The Spartans took the third game 25-23, but Thiel won 25-13 in the fourth game.
Mitch Patterson (Canonsburg, Pa./Canon-McMillan) led Thiel with a season-high 18 kills while recording three aces.
Jacob DeRue (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) and
Colton Greenlee (Cochranton, Pa./Cochranton) contributed nine and eight kills, respectively.
Stephen Borgen (Pittsburgh, Pa./Shaler Area) handed out 31 assists while
Ryan Sumarsono (Victor, N.Y./Victor) led the Tomcats with 14 digs.
Pat Stroh paced the Spartans with 11 kills while Evan Oliver tallied 29 assists.
The Tomcats (5-7, 2-0 AMCC) will face the Juniata Eagles on the road Friday. The non-conference match is set to begin at 7 p.m.
