GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Thiel College women's volleyball team swept the Waynesburg Yellow Jackets in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) contest at Beeghly Gymnasium Tuesday night.
The Tomcats won in straight sets 25-11, 25-14, 25-16. The win was Thiel's ninth in its last 12 matches.
Courtney Grubbs (Freeport, Pa./Freeport) managed Thiel's attack with 27 assists while also contributing four aces and a pair of blocks.
Raquel McDonald (Syracuse, N.Y./Bishop Grimes) and
Natalie Zucco (Cleveland, Ohio/North Royalton) led the Tomcats with eight and seven kills, respectively. McDonald also added three blocks.
Taylor Williams (Tuscarawas, Ohio/Indian Valley) notched 29 digs for the Tomcats while
Emily Sears (Jefferson, Ohio/Geneva) came up with nine digs and a pair of aces.
Abby Triskett (Orwell, Ohio/Grand Valley) registered eight digs and a pair of aces.
Alyson Johnson paced the Yellow Jackets with 15 digs. Hannah Colvin contributed 11 digs and six kills.
The Tomcats, who improved to 9-5 in PAC play with Tuesday's win, will host the Westminster Titans at Beeghly Gymnasium on Thursday, Oct. 31. The PAC match is set to begin at 7 p.m.
