BEAVER FALLS, Pa. – The Thiel College women's volleyball team split a pair of Presidents' Athletic Conference contests during a tri-match competition on Saturday.
Thiel won the first match against Geneva in four sets. The Tomcats won the first set 25-20, Geneva came back to even the match winning set two, 25-22. Thiel would go on to win the next two sets by a final score of 25-14 in each set.
Raquel McDonald (Syracuse, N.Y./Bishop Grimes) was productive on both sides of the ball in the first match leading her team in kills (14) and recording three blocks.
Rebecca Dougherty (New Bethlehem, Pa./Redbank) was also productive on both sides of the ball for the Tomcats. She notched 10 kills, four blocks and a service ace.
Natalie Zucco (Cleveland, Ohio/North Royalton) recorded a double-double with 13 kills and 17 digs.
Courtney Grubbs (Freeport, Pa./Freeport) handed out a team-best 39 assists in the win.
Westminster snapped Thiel's five game PAC win streak in three sets.
Grubbs added 19 more assists in the loss, tallying 58 on the day.
Jordyn Liedike (Anchorage, Alaska/Grace Christian) led the offensive attack with six kills.
Thiel will be back in action on Tuesday when they host the Grove City Wolverines. First serve from Beeghly Gymnasium is set for 7 p.m.
