UTICA, N.Y. – The Thiel College men's volleyball team opened the 2019 season with a 3-0 loss to Wells College on Friday at the SUNY-Poly Invitational.
The Tomcats dropped a tightly contested first set 25-22 to fall behind after one. Wells went on to take each of the next two sets decisively (25-15, 25-17) to sweep the match and give Thiel their first loss of the year.
Leaders for the Tomcats included freshman 
Colton Greenlee (Cochranton, Pa./Cochranton) with nine kills, 
Stephen Borgen (Pittsburgh, Pa./Shaler Area) with 25 assists, and 
Ryan Sumarsono (Victor, N.Y./Victor) who added seven digs.
The Tomcats are back in action tomorrow as they face Elms College at 1:00 p.m. before facing SUNY-Poly at 5:00 p.m.
