GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Thiel College men's basketball team defeated the Geneva Golden Tornadoes Wednesday night in Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) play at Beeghly Gymnasium, 74-66. It was Thiel's second straight PAC win.
The Tomcats, who never trailed in the game, led by 17 points (45-28) at halftime. Thiel went on to lead by as many as 22 points in the second half.
Sophomore guard
Daquan Simmons (Capitol Heights, Md./Central) led the Tomcats with 20 points. He made 8-of-11 from the floor and 4-of-7 from 3-point range.
Terrance Holloway (Farrell, Pa./Farrell), another sophomore guard, scored 18 points and secured four rebounds.
Freshman guard
Anthony Byrd (Plantation, Fla./Blanche Ely) scored 12 points for Thiel. Junior guard
Nyric Gosley (Williamsport, Pa./Williamsport) also played a major role for the Tomcats with a game-high 14 rebounds to go along with nine assists, five points and three steals.
Ethan Moose paced Geneva with 17 points and nine rebounds.
Thiel will return to action Wednesday when they take on the Westminster Titans on the road. The PAC game is slated to start at 8 p.m.
