GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Thiel College men's basketball team won a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) game Saturday over the Waynesburg Yellow Jackets at Beeghly Gymnasium, 80-74.
Thiel held a slim 35-33 lead at halftime but went on to lead by 12 points with 13:04 remaining in the second half. The Yellow Jackets cut the lead down to two points (62-60) with 7:32 left in regulation, but the Tomcats made 7-of-8 shots from the charity stripe down the stretch to pick up the conference win.
Five Tomcats scored more than 10 points in the win.
Terrance Holloway (Farrell, Pa./Farrell) led the way with 22 points and a game-best nine rebounds while
Daquan Simmons (Capitol Heights, Md./Central) scored 15 points.
Alonzo Brown (Largo, Fla./Pinellas Park),
Nyric Gosley (Williamsport, Pa./Williamsport) and
Ahmad Tejumola (Waldorf, Md./Saint Charles) contributed 12 points apiece for Thiel.
Brennan Smith scored a game-high 28 points for the Yellow Jackets while Matt Popeck scored 22 points. Jake Dougherty also chipped in with 10 points.
The Tomcats will be back in action Wednesday when they host the Geneva Golden Tornadoes at Beeghly Gymnasium. The PAC game is set to begin at 7:30 p.m.
