WASHINGTON, Pa. – The Thiel College women's volleyball team dropped two Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) matches at Washington and Jefferson College on Saturday.
The Tomcats opened the PAC tri-match against Westminster College, the Titans swept the Tomcats in three (25-16, 25-19, 25-20). Offensively,
Jessica Kelley (Freeport, Pa./Freeport) collected a team-high 13 kills and
Courtney Grubbs (Freeport, Pa./Freeport) dished out 32 assists.
Abby Triskett (Orwell, Ohio/Grand Valley) added a team-high 14 digs in the three-set loss.
In match number two, The Tomcats continued to struggle and fell to the hosting Presidents 3-0 (25-18, 25-16, 25-10).
Shelby Friedel (Columbia Station, Ohio/Columbia) and
Kasey Kohler (New Springfield, Ohio/Springfield Local) each recorded eight kills in the match. Defensively, a trio of Tomcats collected double-digit digs (Triskett, Grubbs, and
Peyton Allen (Mineral Ridge, Ohio/Mineral Ridge)).
With two losses on the day, Thiel now sits at 7-9 overall and 2-4 in the PAC. The Tomcats will be back in action on Tuesday as they travel to Hiram College to face the hosting Terriers and Baldwin Wallace University in a nonconference tri-match. Thiel's first match is set for 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
