GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Thiel College men's soccer team was defeated 3-0 Saturday in non-conference play at Alumni Stadium by the Heidelberg Student Princes.
Heidelberg's Christian Alvarado opened scoring 10:10 after the opening whistle when he scored on his own rebound. Minutes before halftime, Chase Paulson increased Heidelberg's lead to 2-0 when he scored on a header. Alvarado assisted.
Cory Gilbert closed out scoring in the 68
th minute when he found the back of the net on a rebound in the box.
Andreas Hauge Jonassen (Stavanger, Nor/) paced the Tomcats with three shots, two of which were on goal.
Christian Conrad (Barberton, Ohio/Central Catholic) made seven saves for the Tomcats while Jake Kress made four saves for the Student Princes.
Thiel will take on Defiance on the road Tuesday. The non-conference game is set to begin at 4 p.m.
