LATROBE, Pa. – The Thiel College softball team lost a pair of Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) games Sunday on the road to the Saint Vincent Bearcats. Saint Vincent won the first game of the twinbill 6-1 before winning 10-3 in the second game.
Saint Vincent took an early 3-0 lead in the first game. Thiel cut the lead down to 3-1 in the third inning when
A.J. Corradi (Youngstown, Ohio/Austintown Fitch) scored
Alexa Fike (Export, Pa./Franklin Regional) on a single to left field.
The Bearcats went on to add three more runs while keeping the Tomcats off the scoreboard to win the first game, 6-1.
Corradi went 3-for-4 with a double and one RBI in the first game.
Shannon Baker (Corry, Pa./Corry) took the loss. She allowed five earned runs on nine hits with three strikeouts.
Corradi drove in the first run in the second game on a double to left center field, which brought home
Leah Woytek (Hillsville, Pa./Mohawk).
Saint Vincent went on to plate three runs in the bottom of the first and two runs apiece in the third and fifth innings to hold a 7-1 lead heading into the top of the sixth.
Vanessa Falce (McKeesport, Pa./McKeesport) drove in a pair of runs in the top of the sixth inning on a single to center field, but the Bearcats came back with three more runs in the bottom of the frame and held on to win, 10-3.
Woytek went 4-for-4 in the second game with a run scored. Falce went 3-for-3 with two RBIs while
Madison Fullmer (Elyria, Ohio/Elyria) also went 3-for-3. Corradi recorded two hits, both of which were doubles, and one RBI.
Thiel will host the Westminster Titans Monday at Tomcat Park. The single 7-inning game will begin at 5 p.m.
