GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Thiel College softball team earned a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) doubleheader sweep Saturday over the Chatham Cougars at Tomcat Park. Thiel won the first game 8-5 before picking up a 6-4 win in the second game.

Chatham scored the first run of the series in the third inning, but the Tomcats came back with three runs in the bottom of the inning. Jessica Kelley (Freeport, Pa./Freeport) drove in one of those run on a single to right field.

Chatham tied up the game 3-3 in the top of the fourth, but Alexa Fike (Export, Pa./Franklin Regional) put Thiel back on top in the bottom of the inning when she singled up the middle allowing Quinn Ursprung (Bel Air, Md./C Milton Wright) to score.

The Cougars forced another tie in the top of the fifth, but the Tomcats went ahead for good in the bottom of the frame with a 3-run effort. Ursprung drove in a pair of those runs on a single to left field while Leah Woytek (Hillsville, Pa./Mohawk) drove in one run on a double.

Kelley gave the Tomcats an extra insurance run in the bottom of the sixth on an RBI-double to left field.

Vanessa Falce (McKeesport, Pa./McKeesport) drove in the Tomcats' first run of the game on a single to left field. Bailey Hoover (Smock, Pa./Uniontown) drove in Falce on a single to left, and Kelley pushed two runs across the plate on a triple to center field.

Chatham eked out a run in the top of the fourth, but Thiel got that run back in the bottom of the inning when Fike singled up the middle, allowing Ursprung to score.

Urpsrung went on to drive in Thiel's sixth and final run of the game on a single to center field in the fifth inning.
