NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – The Thiel College baseball team split a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) doubleheader against the Westminster Titans Wednesday. The Titans took the first game 7-6 before the Tomcats won 7-6 in the second game.
In game one, Thiel built a 6-3 lead in the eighth before Westminster added four runs in the eighth to make it 7-6.

Matt Gayda (Pittsburgh, Pa./Allderdice) collected a no-decision as he went seven innings and allowed just four runs.
Anthony Rago (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin),
Alex Lam (Springboro, Ohio/Springboro), and
Jake Marino (Pittsfield, Pa./Youngsville) each collected two hits apiece in game one.
In game two,
Andrew Giesey (Penn, Pa./Penn Trafford) singled down the line to score
Zach Hudecek (Gibsonia, Pa./Deer Lakes) to put Thiel on the board. Westminster answered with two runs on wild pitches in the bottom of the inning to take a 2-1 lead after one.
Neither offense scored again until the fifth when the Titans poured in four runs to make it 6-1 in favor of Westminster.
The Tomcats' offense came to life in the ninth as they collected four doubles in the inning to score six runs and earn the come-from-behind win.
Drew Dellert (Dover, Del./Poly-Tech), Giesey, Marino, and Lam each recorded RBIs in the ninth to put Thiel up one heading into the bottom of the inning.
Rago came on in the ninth to retire the Titans in order and earn his third save of the year.
Matt Hultquist (North Warren, Pa./Warren) (1-2) picked up his first win of the year.
With the split, Thiel sits at 12-15 overall and 8-4 in the PAC. The Tomcats will be back in action Saturday for a PAC road doubleheader against the Saint Vincent Bearcats. The first game is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
