OBERLIN, Ohio – The Thiel College men's lacrosse team lost a non-conference game on the road Wednesday night to the Oberlin Yeomen, 8-7.
Oberlin scored the first two goals of the game, but Thiel responded with four consecutive goals to hold a 4-2 lead at the end of the first quarter.
JJ Raab (Butler, Pa./Butler) scored two of the four goals while
Liam Stickle (Clarkston, Mich./Clarkston) and
Shawndel Evans II (New Haven, Conn./Notre Dame) each scored one goal.
The Yeomen also scored the first two goals in the second quarter to tie up the game, 4-4. The Tomcats countered with a pair of goals, one by Raab and a man-up goal by
Jared Saffer (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Hills), to hold a 6-4 lead at halftime.
The Yeomen went on to outscore the Tomcats 4-1 in the second half to earn the non-conference win.
Raab led the Tomcats with three goals. Reese Koburov scored three goals for the Yeomen while Jay Messina also tallied three points (1G, 2A).
Cole O'Connor (Midlothian, Va./James River) and Calvin Filson each made 15 saves.
The Tomcats will return to action Saturday when they face the Muskingum Fighting Muskies on the road. The non-conference game is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
