BETHANY, W.Va. – The Thiel College men's basketball team earned a 73-64 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) win in overtime Saturday on the road over the Bethany Bison.
The Tomcats trailed the Bison 34-24 at halftime but reversed the score in the second half (34-24) to force overtime.
In overtime, two layups by
Terrance Holloway (Farrell, Pa./Farrell) and a pair of 3-pointers by
Daquan Simmons (Capitol Heights, Md./Central) gave the Tomcats a 9-point lead (68-59) with 3:30 remaining, and the Bison were unable to recover.
Alonzo Brown (Largo, Fla./Pinellas Park) led the Tomcats with 22 points and a game-best 18 rebounds to finish with a double-double. Holloway scored 16 points and tallied four assists while Simmons scored 14 points.
Trey Shifflett paced the Bison with a game-high 29 points.
The Tomcats will return to action Saturday, Dec. 29 when they face the New Jersey City Gothic Knights during play in the E.M. "Mose" Hole/Wooster Kiwanis Classic, hosted by the College of Wooster. The game is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m.
