BRADFORD, Pa. – The Thiel College women's volleyball team earned a pair of 3-2 non-conference wins Saturday over SUNY Canton and Pitt-Bradford.
Thiel defeated SUNY Canton 21-25, 26-24, 25-21, 19-25, 15-10.
Rebecca Dougherty (New Bethlehem, Pa./Redbank) led the Tomcats with 12 kills in the five-set match.
Courtney Grubbs (Freeport, Pa./Freeport) handed out a match-best 36 assists against SUNY Canton while
Peyton Allen (Mineral Ridge, Ohio/Mineral Ridge) tallied a match-best 26 digs.
Taylor Williams (Tuscarawas, Ohio/Indian Valley) led the Tomcats with six aces while
Macy Jordan (York, Pa./York Suburban) tallied six blocks.
The Tomcats defeated the Pitt-Bradford Panthers 7-25, 25-18, 23-25, 25-17, 15-12 in the second match Saturday.
Dougherty tallied 14 kills against the Panthers while Allen notched 22 digs. Grubbs recorded 40 assists and five aces.
Thiel improved to 10-13 overall on the season with Saturday's wins. The Tomcats will take on the Grove City Wolverines on the road Tuesday. The Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) match is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
