GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Thiel College women's volleyball team dropped a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) match 3-0 to Bethany College on Tuesday night at Beeghly Gymnasium.
The Bison swept the first three sets (25-20, 25-18, 25-19) to take the match.
The Tomcat offense sputtered throughout the match as no Tomcat collected double-digit kills on the night. The trio of
Rebecca Dougherty (New Bethlehem, Pa./Redbank),
Brie Bialota (Pittsburgh, Pa. /Plum), and
Kasey Kohler (New Springfield, Ohio/Springfield Local) each collected seven kills apiece. Kohler would also rack up a team-high three blocks.
Offense was not an issue for the Bison as the team hit .176 on the night and only collected 14 hitting errors. Bethany outside hitter Katie Sparks collected a match-high 11 kills in the three-set sweep.
Defensively for Thiel,
Peyton Allen (Mineral Ridge, Ohio/Mineral Ridge) collected 22 digs, while
Alex Geraci (Garrettsville, Ohio/Crestwood) and
Taylor Williams (Tuscarawas, Ohio/Indian Valley) gathered 14 and 13 digs, respectively.
With the result, Thiel falls to 12-15 overall and 5-7 in the PAC.
Next up for the Tomcats is a PAC match against Chatham University on Thursday in Pittsburgh, Pa., first serve is set for 7:00 p.m.
