GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Thiel College men's basketball team defeated the Washington & Jefferson Presidents 65-57 Wednesday in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) contest at Beeghly Gymnasium.
The Tomcats trailed the Presidents by four points (31-27) at halftime but went on to take the lead (38-36) on a jumper by
Tyreik Burton (Lewes, Del./Cape Henlopen) with 15:28 remaining in the second half. Thiel went on to lead by as many as 11 points midway through the second half.
Burton led the Tomcats with 15 points. Freshman forward
Tyrese Robinson (Pittsburgh, Pa./Woodland Hills) scored a career-best 12 points to go along with seven rebounds.
Nyric Gosley (Williamsport, Pa./Williamsport) scored nine points while
Alonzo Brown (Largo, Fla./Pinellas Park) grabbed a season-best 12 rebounds.
Brian Lindquist led W&J with 20 points and eight rebounds. Nicholas Campalong chipped in with 10 points.
The Tomcats (4-5, 2-2 PAC) will return to action Saturday when they host the Bethany Bison at Beeghly Gymnasium. The PAC game is set to begin at 3 p.m.
