MEADVILLE, Pa. – The Thiel College women's volleyball team closed play at the Allegheny Gator Invitational on Saturday. Thiel split the day with a win over Oswego State and a loss to St. John Fisher College.
Thiel first faced Oswego State and swept the match three games to none. The Tomcats started strong taking the first set 25-13, only to have tightly contested sets in the second and third (25-23, 25-23).
Thiel then went on to play St. John Fisher and was unable to win a set as the Cardinals swept the Tomcats in three games. The Tomcats fell 25-20, 25-22, and 25-18 to go 3-1 overall in the Allegheny Gator Invitational.
With Saturday's split Thiel is now 5-4 on the year. The Tomcats will open Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) play Tuesday when they take on the Waynesburg Yellow Jackets on the road.
