LATROBE, Pa.  – The Thiel College women's volleyball team lost a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) match in Latrobe, Pa. against Saint Vincent College in five sets on Wednesday night.

The match went in favor of the Bearcats 3-2 (18-25, 25-18, 25-19, 23-25, and 13-15) as the Tomcats have now dropped four straight matches.

After dropping the first set 18-25 the Tomcats roared back to take the next two sets 25-18 and 25-19 to make the match 2-1 in favor of Thiel.

The fourth set saw a back and forth battle between the two PAC foes as the lead changed nine times. The Tomcats took a commanding 22-16 lead late into the set before the Bearcats went on an eight-point run to take a 24-22 advantage. Saint Vincent went on to take the set 25-23 and forced a fifth set.

In the fifth, Thiel jumped out to an 11-8 lead before Saint Vincent tied the set 12-12 and went on to win four out of the next five points to take the set 15-13.

Three Tomcats collected double-digit kills as Shelby Friedel (Columbia Station, Ohio/Columbia) led the way with a game-high 14 kills. Jessica Kelley (Freeport, Pa./Freeport) and Kasey Kohler (New Springfield, Ohio/Springfield Local) collected 13 and 12 kills, respectively.

Megan Sweeny (Freeport, Pa./Freeport Area) collected a game-high 31 digs and Hannah Rossman (Fairview, Pa./Fairview) dished out a 38 assists on the night. Thiel recorded a season-high 16 aces, six of which were earned by Alex Geraci (Garrettsville, Ohio/Crestwood).

With the loss, Thiel falls to 7-8 overall and 1-3 in the PAC.

The Tomcats will be back in action on Friday Sept. 22 in a PAC matchup against the Saints of Thomas More College in Crestview Hills, Ky. The match will be begin at 4:00 p.m.
