GREENVILLE, Pa. - The Thiel College men's soccer team won a non-conference matchup over the Hilbert Hawks on Wednesday night by a final score of 4-0.
The Tomcats came out attacking and took advantage of a misplayed ball back to the goalkeeper as it was intercepted by
Zachary Oliver (Bridgeport, Ohio/St. Clairsville), who buried the ball in the back of the net to make it 1-0 in favor of the Tomcats in the 10'.
Thiel added another goal late in the first half on a penalty kick by
Connor Swatts (Greenwood, Ind./Whiteland Community) to increase their advantage to 2-0.
The Tomcats continued to click on offense in the second half as Oliver put a well placed corner kick just outside the six for
Cole Duskey (Orrville, Ohio/Orrville) to head home to make it 3-0 in the 56th minute. Duskey recorded his first goal of the year on the header. Oliver struck again in the 57th minute making a run on the left side and beat a defender to give him a chance at goal to which he converted for his second goal of the night.
Oliver finished the night with a season-high in points with two goals and an assist.
Goalkeeper
Christian Conrad (Barberton, Ohio/Central Catholic) only needed to make two saves on the night but he kept a clean sheet for his seventh career shutout victory which puts him the top spot in the Tomcat record book.
