Scherer, Quinn pace Tomcats against Panthers

HANOVER, Ind. – The Thiel College women's lacrosse team suffered a 14-5 Ohio River Lacrosse Conference (ORLC) loss Saturday on the road to the Hanover Panthers.

Jennifer Rickens (Pittsburgh, Pa./Chartiers Valley) put the Tomcats up early on an unassisted goal less than three minutes after the opening draw, but Panther Isabella Miller tied up the game roughly a minute later on another unassisted marker.

Paige Scherer (Cranberry, Pa./Seneca Valley) put the Tomcats back on top with 21 minutes remaining in the first half, but the Panthers went on to score seven unanswered goals over the remainder of the half and never looked back en route to the conference win.

Scherer and Mackenzie Quinn (Carnegie, Pa./Chartiers Valley) led the Tomcats with two goals apiece. Rickens also chipped in with a goal.

Miller and Emma Boomershine each scored three goals and added an assist to lead the Panthers.

Amanda Mousa made nine saves for Hanover. Kyra Farrell (Pittsburgh, Pa./Oakland Catholic) made 12 saves for Thiel.

The Tomcats will return to action Sunday when they face the Franklin Grizzlies on the road. The ORLC game is slated to begin at 1 p.m.
